Oregon's newspaper history began February 5, 1846 with the Oregon Spectator, the first newspaper to be published
west of the Missouri River.
It wouldn't take long for others to follow, but the glory would belong to this newspaper in this
young and beautiful country that wouldn't become a state until 13 years later.
